Each autumn leaf is unique just like each of your guests. Place cards made from dried leaves are a simple way to appreciate this uniqueness. When you display single leaves, your friends will have to opportunity to notice their unique shapes and subtle colors. These place cards are especially effective on a white table cloth at a formal dinner. Use silver ink to match the flatware. Place cards are one of the small touches that show you care. Things You'll Need

  • Leaves
  • Newsprint
  • Paper towels
  • Phone book
  • Gel pen

Instructions

    • 1

      Lay a paper towel on a sheet of newsprint. Arrange the leaves on the towel. Top this with another paper towel and another sheet of newsprint.

      Put the stacks of paper and leaves between the pages of a phone book and allow then to dry in a dry well ventilated place. This will take several days or a week.

      Write your guest's names above the spine in the center of the leaf with gel pen. Place the leaves on the table above the plate, on a napkin folded in the center of the plate, or propped on top of a glass at each place setting.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may also glue the leaves to folded squares of card stock for more traditional place cards. You can find or purchase dried leaves if you don't have time to dry them yourself.
