Warm weather often sends people out of the kitchen to the grill to prepare meals. The options for grilling are numerous, depending on your tastes and preferences. For lighter fare with big taste, consider cooking tuna steaks on the grill. Because tuna steaks have a higher fat content and a meatier composition, they grill easily, not breaking apart like some other kinds of fish. Make tuna steaks on a gas grill for a fresh and light summer meal.
Things You'll Need
- 1 tbsp. cooking oil
- Small bowl
- 1 clove minced garlic
- 1 lime
- 1 tbsp. fresh parsley
- Cutting board
- Chef’s knife
- 1 lb. tuna steaks
- Glass dish
- Grilling tongs
- Serving platter
Pour the cooking oil into the small bowl.
Mince the garlic clove and add this to the oil. Place the lime on the cutting board and cut it in half. Squeeze the lime juice into the bowl. Add the fresh parsley and mix everything together with the whisk.
Place the tuna steaks into the glass dish and pour the marinade over the steaks. Cover the glass dish and place it into the refrigerator. Chill the marinating tuna steaks for at least one hour.
Preheat the gas grill on high for five minutes and then reduce the heat to low.
Place the tuna steaks onto the grill with the tongs and cook them on the first side for approximately four minutes, monitoring the grilling process constantly to prevent burning.
Flip the tuna steaks to the other side after four minutes and grill the tuna on the second side for four more minutes.
Check the tuna steaks after grilling them on the second side. Insert the tip of the tongs into the center of the largest steak to assess the doneness. If the steak looks opaque throughout the entire center, remove the steaks from the grill.
Place the tuna steaks onto the serving platter and serve them immediately.
