How to Remove Tomato Stains From Plastic Containers
Tomato-based sauces and foods often stick to plastic and leave behind orange stains. The tomato stains often become a challenge to remove, and make the plastic appear dirty. Since plastic is a porous material, it will trap the tomato stains. Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Water
- Small bowl
- Damp washcloth
- Lemon
- Dish washing soap
- Chlorine bleach

Light Tomato Stains

Combine baking soda with an equal amount of water in a small bowl. Stir until a pastes forms.

Spread the paste over the plastic container. Allow the baking soda paste to dry.

Wipe the paste off with a damp washcloth. Rinse the plastic container off with clean water.

Cut a lemon in half. Rub the lemon on any remaining stains.

Place the container outside in direct sunlight for two to three hours.

Rinse the container in clean water with a mild dish washing soap.
Heavy Tomato Stains

Fill the container with chlorine bleach to cover the stain completely.

Allow the container to sit overnight.

Pour the bleach out of the container.

Wash the container with warm soapy water.
