Paint an accent wall in your kid's bedroom. When doing this, paint the rest of the walls white or a warm neutral color, such as a buttery-yellow color. Paint one large wall or two smaller walls in a bold, tomato red color.

2
Add a red, quilted headboard on the front of the bed. The headboard should be taller than most standard headboards. The color should be also a bold, bright red color rather than a brick-red color. Use bedding that has touches of red. For example, consider a comforter that is white with red flowers on it.
