How to Change an Air Filter in a Lennox Furnace

Furnaces for a home are available from many manufacturers, such as Lennox. One type of furnace that is manufactured by Lennox is called a Pulse. This furnace runs on gas and can be identified by the name on the front of the door or on the inside of the door. When the filter for the furnace is dirty, it can be cleaned or replaced with a new one. You can replace the filter on the furnace by first purchasing the new part. Does this Spark an idea?

      Turn off the power to the furnace by moving the switch to the “Off” position, or turning off the breaker at the circuit panel.

      Observe the blower and wait for it to stop before removing the access panel. Lift the panel up and slide it off the furnace. Lift the filter up out of the channel, and then slide it out of the unit.

      Mix a solution of warm water and dish soap. Dip the scrub brush in the solution and clean the filter by scrubbing lightly to remove dirt and debris. Set the filter aside and let it dry.

      Insert the cleaned filter back in the furnace, or insert the replacement filter, and then set the access panel for the blower back in place.

      Turn on the power to the furnace by moving the switch to the “On” position, or turn on the breaker at the circuit panel.

Tips & Warnings

  • Replace a disposable filter with a foam reusable filter to eliminate the need for a replacement every year.

  • Do not replace a permanent or reusable filter with a paper or disposable filter.
