Wireless routers allow you to connect to the Internet from anywhere in your home.

2Wire DSL modems include built in wireless routers. To use another wireless router with a 2Wire, the 2Wire must be placed into bridge mode. Bridge mode disables the router and firewall functionality of the 2Wire and allows it to act as a regular modem. It will pass all information through to the wireless router behind it. The wireless router will then also be responsible for authenticating the connection using any credentials the Internet service provider requires.
