Instructions

    • 1

Cut the plywood using the circular saw into two panels measuring 11-1/2 inches by 25 inches. These will be the front and back panels of the firewood box.

    • 2

Cut another piece of hardwood plywood measuring 12-1/8 inches by 25 inches long to serve as the bottom panel. Cut two more pieces of the plywood measuring 12-1/8 inches wide by 10-3/4 inches high. These will be the side panels of the box.

    • 3

Lay the bottom panel of the box face down and dry-fit the side, front and back panels to the bottom. Using wood glue, glue the front and back panels to the side panels.

    • 4

Secure the front and back panels to the side panels by drilling in the 1-1/2-inch wood screws. Attach all sides to the bottom panels using 1-1/2-inch wood screws.

    • 5

Cut the lid for the box by cutting a piece of plywood measuring 13-3/4 inches by 25 inches. Attach a piece of 2-1/8-inch plywood to the back edge and two sides of the box. This will serve as a support for the hinge.

    • 6

Cut the 5/8-inch square of hardwood into two 10-1/4-inch pieces. Attach each piece 1 inch from each side of the inside of the lid of the box. Secure with 1-inch wood screws.

    • 7

Attach the lid with the lid hinges as instructed in the hinges' included instructions.

    • 8

Sand all rough edges and fill all holes with wood filler. Attach all hardware as instructed in its included directions.

Tips & Warnings

  • If desired, paint or stain the firewood box before applying hardware.

  • Wear safety goggles while using saws.

  • If painting or staining, do so in a well-ventilated area.

  • Place finished firewood box a safe distance from the fireplace.
