Network Play allows you to play "Football Manager 2009" online with other people.

"Football Manager 2009" is a soccer management simulation game made by Sports Interactive and Sega, available for PC and Mac. It is known as "Worldwide Soccer Manager 2009" in the United States and Canada. As well as being able to play the game in single- and multiplayer modes on the same computer, you can also play multiplayer with people anywhere in the world online via the game's Network Play feature.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "Football Manager 2009" home screen and the "Game Preferences" tab. Open the "Network" tab within this screen and ensure you have the "Run as Server" box ticked.

    • 2

Open the "General" game settings in the "Game Preferences" tab. Make sure the "Move Matches for TV" box is unchecked; every player who is going to take part in the game will have to ensure that this box is unchecked also.

    • 3

Select "New Game" from the opening "Football Manager 2009" menu. Set up all the preferences (which countries and leagues you will include, for instance) as for a normal single-player game.

    • 4

Give your IP address to the other people with whom you would like to play. To find your IP address, open the "Game Information" tab under the "Game Status" page or use an IP address detector website.

    • 5

To join your game, have other players open the "Football Manager 2009" home screen and click on "Network."

    • 6

Have other players click "Join Other Server" and enter your IP address into the box that appears. Once they press "OK," the network game will open.

Tips & Warnings

  • To join a network game that somebody else has set up, simply follow Steps 5 and 6, instead recording the IP address of the person who set up the game. When setting up the preferences for which leagues to use, the more you select, the slower your game will be.
