How to Call Collect From Japan

Call home from Japan.

If you are traveling in Japan and do not have a calling card or cell phone and want to call home you need to use a collect calling number. This number allows you to call home without paying a dime (the number you call is stuck with the bill instead). Knowing how to call collect from Japan is extremely helpful, especially if you are shy on funds.

Instructions

1. Find any land line. This includes payphones or a phone in your hotel room.

2. Dial 866-390-8511. You do not need any country codes as you typically do when calling abroad. This is the direct collect call phone number for calling the United States and Canada.

3. Press "1" after the collect calling number has been accepted. This is the U.S. country code.

4. Dial the area code of the individual you are calling and then type in the rest of the phone number. After a few moments your call is directly connected to your desired number.
