How to Customize Prom Tuxedos & Shoes
Prom night requires you to dress in formal attire, so renting a tuxedo and shoes is almost always a must. If this is your first time renting a tux, you may feel overwhelmed by all of the choices available. There are many different styles of tuxedos, and customizing yours can be a lot of fun—not to mention a great way to show off your personal style on prom night.
Instructions

-
1
Plan on ordering your tuxedo and shoes at least three weeks before the prom in order to give yourself enough time for it to be delivered and for any alternations it may require.
-
2
Visit your local formalwear store or anywhere else that rents tuxedos in your area.
-
-
3
Browse through catalogs and brochures for ideas as to the different styles that are offered.
-
4
Decide if you want a short tuxedo jacket that sits at the waist or one with tails hanging in the back.
-
5
Pick a color for your tuxedo, such as black, ivory, white or brown. You can also choose one with pinstripes.
-
6
Determine if you would like a bow tie and cummerbund, a long tie and vest or just snazzy button covers to clip onto your dress shirt underneath the jacket. Choose a color for these accessories as well.
-
7
Browse through shoe styles next and choose which ones will look the best with your tuxedo and will also be comfortable to wear.
-
8
Decide if you want patent leather shoes or even cowboy boots to add a personal touch. You will also have the option to pick your colors in these, too.
-
9
Place your order and wait for the tuxedo and shoes to arrive. Once they come in, someone from the store will contact you and schedule a fitting to ensure the tux is properly proportioned. After the necessary alterations are made, you will be ready to take your outfit home and prepare for your big night.
