How to Change Pound to Euro
The United Kingdom is one of the few places in Europe that does not use the euro as its currency. Sterling, or the "pound'"as it is more commonly known, is the currency used in the UK. Americans planning a trip around Europe will at some stage need to covert pounds to euros, or vice versa. Likewise, Britons planning a jaunt over to the mainland will also need to convert their currency.

1
Check the exchange rates online before you exchange any money. Websites such as XE Currency Converter give you up-to-the-minute information on the exchange rate between the two currencies. Also, look at Money Supermarket to compare the exchange rates being offered by different companies.

2
Go to a currency-exchange agency. Post offices, bureaux de changes, banks and travel agents will all convert pounds into euros from either cash or using a credit card. Compare the rate they offer to the information you found online. If the rate is not good, or the commission being charged is too high, find somewhere else to change your money.

Count out the euros you receive in front of the cashier so that if there has been a mistake, it can be rectified. Once you have left the agency with your new currency, it is hard to prove they gave you the wrong amount.
