How to Dye & Cut Cotton Balls to Make a White Beard
Cotton balls can make a fluffy-textured beard for a Santa Claus, elf or a garden gnome costume. In this case, cotton balls are already white, so there is no need to dye them. This beard may not be believable, but it will be cute and very quick to make. Cotton balls are available at every drug and grocery store and come in different sizes, so you can choose the perfect size for your crafty beard.

1
Lay out cotton balls in a triangular beard shape on a table top, so that you know how many you'll need.
-
2
Stitch cotton balls together row by row. Start with the top, ie. the row that will go from ear to ear across your face just under your nose. Knot the end of your thread and simply pull the thread through the middle of each cotton ball, attaching them together in a line.

3
Stitch rows together to form a beard. Knot thread and stitch last cotton ball in each row together so that the rows come together into a triangular beard shape. You may need to do this with some cotton balls in the middle of the rows so the beard maintains its shape.
-
4
Attach the beard to your face with thread around your ears or an elastic around the back of your head. You can stitch the elastic to the top corners of the beard.
