DIY Compost Bin Pallets
Compost boosts plant health and makes up for soil deficiencies. It can be bought or made at home. Make your own compost to reduce household and yard waste and generate a valuable soil amendment for your garden. A compost bin can be made cheaply and easily using preconstructed wooden shipping pallets. These pallets can often be found stacked outside a place of business, perhaps headed for the dumpster Ask for permission before taking them. Does this Spark an idea?

Choose a pallet for the back and one side. Find a good spot to put the two l-brackets, making sure they will screw into a solid part of the wooden frame.

Attach two l-brackets to the left edge of the back pallet, one a few inches down from the top and one a few inches up from bottom. Stand the two pallets up and align them at right angles. Screw the brackets to the outside of the second pallet.

Put the remaining two l-brackets on the right edge of the back pallet. Stand the remaining side pallet up and align it at right angles with the back, then screw the brackets to the outside of the side pallet.

Stand the remaining pallet up and align it between the two sides, to serve as a gate. Leave a small space at the bottom to allow swinging of the gate. Attach the pallet with the strap hinges to the left-hand wall of the compost bin. Install the latch on the right side of the gate to keep it shut.
