How to Make a Fake Wine Bottle Label

Fake wine labels can be great for parties.

Want to put your wine connoisseur friend's taste buds to the test? Print out fancy wine labels and place them on less expensive bottles of wine to see if she can tell the difference. You can also make your own wine labels to disguise non-alcoholic wine, name a wine after a friend or for a special event or party. To make fake wine labels use the same process that home brewers use to brand their products.

Things You'll Need

• Computer
• Ink jet printer
• Paper
• Glue
• Image manipulation software
• Scissors
• Scanner
• Digital camera
• Polyurethane coating
• Hard wallet-sized card, such as a credit card

Instructions

1. Open the image manipulation software on your computer. Here you will alter and move the images you would like to use on your wine label. You can take pictures using a digital camera and write on them or alter the images using your software. You can also scan pictures, documents and even other wine labels onto your scanner and alter them using your software. Images may also be downloaded from the Internet or pulled from a clip art gallery. Arrange the image as you would like them to appear on your label.

2. Print the images onto paper. Cut the label out using scissors.

3. Spray the polyurethane coating onto one side of the label and allow it to dry. Then spray the other side and allow it to dry. This will protect the ink on the label and keep it from running as condensation runs down the bottle. Be sure the label is flat.

4. Glue the label to the bottle. Use the card to smooth the label onto the bottle. Push the edge of the card along the label so the glue adheres evenly.
