How to Make Santa Dolls
Making a Santa doll can be a fun way to get ready for the holiday season. A plush Santa toy can include all of St. Nick's iconic accessories, including his pointed hat and thick black boots. Creating a whimsical Christmas doll requires just a few basic sewing materials and tools, and can be a good project for kids to work on to make gifts for friends and family. Putting together a cheery Santa doll can be simple and rewarding.

1
Fold a piece of red fleece in half so you have a double layer of fabric. The material can be any size you want depending on how big you want the doll. About 12 inches of fabric works well.
-
2
Draw a basic doll shape onto the top of the fabric with a piece of chalk. Make a rounded torso, rounded arms and legs and a circle on top for a head. Make sure to also draw a triangle shape on top of the head for Santa's hat.

Cut out the tracing with scissors. You should now have two identical pieces of fabric cut out. Sew the two pieces together with a needle and thread, making a seam that goes all the way around the doll shape. Leave a 1 inch opening at the bottom of the doll.
-
4
Turn the fabric inside out so the rough seams are on the inside and there is a smooth seam on the outside. Fill the doll with stuffing using the 1 inch hole. When the doll is fully loaded, stitch up the hole.

5
Cut a circle from a piece of pink felt and attach it to the circle shape of the red doll form with fabric glue. This will be Santa's face. Cut out two small white circles from a piece of white felt and glue them to the top of the face for eyes. Cut out a puffy beard shape from the white felt and attach it to the bottom of the face.
Draw a small black dot on each white eye with a marker--these dots are Santa's pupils. Use a marker to draw a small nose and mouth, or use spare felt pieces to cut out a red mouth and nose, which can be attached with a needle or glue.
-
6
Cut a strip of black felt for his belt and attach it to Santa's middle section. Cut out two black boot shapes and glue to the feet of the doll. Other accessories like mittens or buttons can also be cut out and attached if you so choose.
