Selecting a Matte Frame for Artwork
Once you have a piece of artwork that you wish to put on display, you will need to decide the best way to frame it. Framing a work of art allows the piece to have a simple, yet elegant presentation. Ideal framing should let the artwork be the main point of focus, rather than drawing the eye to an overly elaborate frame. A matte frame, rather than a shiny frame, will create a subtle framework to allow the focus to remain on the art.

1
Measure the artwork to be framed to determine the necessary size of the frame. Keep in mind that, when framing the artwork, there will be a mat between the frame and the art, so the opening in the frame should be slightly larger than the artwork.
-
2
Choose a variety of matte frames, looking for frames that fit the dimensions of the artwork but are not shiny or glossy.
-
-
3
Look for a frame that works with the color scheme of the artwork and complements it, rather than being distractingly light or dark.
-
4
Select a frame that is proportionally thin or thick, depending on the size and orientation of the artwork. The larger the artwork, the wider the frame can be without overwhelming the piece.
