How to Use a Hanky
A hanky, or handkerchief, is a piece of cloth some people carry in their pockets or purses to blow or wipe their noses. In the past, it was commonplace for people to use handkerchiefs, and in some parts of the world, such as Asia, it's still common for both men and women to carry and use a handkerchief. Using a hanky can save you money on paper tissues and can save the environment, one tissue at a time.
Instructions
-
-
1
Tuck a couple of clean handkerchiefs into your pocket or purse each morning.
-
2
Excuse yourself to the bathroom or another private area when you need to use your handkerchief. Blowing your nose in public, when avoidable, is rude and unsanitary.
-
-
3
Open the handkerchief and place it over your nose in the same manner you would a facial tissue. Blow your nose into the handkerchief.
-
4
Fold the handkerchief up so the soiled portion is inside the middle. Use each handkerchief only once to avoid the spread of germs.
-
5
Wash your handkerchiefs in hot water with laundry detergent to clean them and kill germs.

Tips & Warnings
Keep at least a dozen handkerchiefs clean at a time. This way you always have a few clean ones while the others are being washed.
Avoid sharing a handkerchief. If you let someone borrow a clean handkerchief, it's probably best to let him keep it.
