How to Transfer a United Airlines Ticket Voucher
It has happened to many of us. We have an airline voucher we don't need, and a friend or family member that could use it. Whether you are the giver or the receiver of an United Airlines ticket voucher, you will probably need advice on transferring it. The good news is that transferring a United Airlines ticket voucher to someone else can be done.

Call United Airlines at 1-800-864-8331. Give them the dates and times of anticipated travel for the person that the voucher will be transferred to. You can also have the person whom the voucher will be transferred to call the airline if you don't have the exact details of their trip.

Confirm the dates and times with the reservation agent and give them the voucher number along with the purchaser's credit card number. They will take the voucher amount off the cost of the ticket and they will give a confirmation number that will hold the itinerary for 24 hours.

Present the voucher and the itinerary confirmation number at a United Airlines counter within 24 hours of the booking. The person whose name was originally on the voucher must be present at that time, however it is not neccessary for the transferred party to be present, making the process completely doable if both parties live in different places.

Tips & Warnings
Save a step by having both parties go to the airport counter together instead of doing half by phone and the other half in person.
Due to heightened security measures, transferring vouchers is not a task that can be done online.
The itinerary is only held for 24 hours. After 24 hours the itinerary will be void and the first step of the process will have to be repeated. The original holder of the voucher MUST appear in person at a United counter within 24 hours regardless of the person's proximity to an airport with a United kiosk.
