How to Change the Power Supply for an HP Pavilion 6535
HP desktop computers don't necessarily have many differences from other computers regarding their internal components. The HP Pavilion 6535, like most computers, has the power supply mounted in the upper part of the tower in the rear. To take this power supply out and replace it, you must first remove the outer shell surrounding the side of the case on the opposite side of the motherboard.
Instructions
-
-
1
Turn your computer with the rear facing you, remove all of its cables and remove the screws holding the panel on the right side.
-
2
Slide the panel back and lift it off of the computer, exposing the interior.
-
-
3
Unscrew the screws from the rear of the computer holding the small box with a power connector in the back of it--the power supply.
-
4
Disconnect every cable leading from the power supply to every interior peripheral on your computer. Memorize where each cable went so you can properly connect the ones from the new power supply.
-
5
Lift the power supply out of the case slowly so as not to harm anything in the interior.
-
6
Slide the new power supply in carefully, connect its cables and screw it firmly back in.
-
7
Reassemble your computer, placing the side panel back in the opposite way in which you lifted it off.
-
8
Screw the panel back on with your screwdriver using the screws you took out previously.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure you touch a grounded metal surface before working on your computer's interior. This reduces the risk of electrostatic discharge from your body. Electrostatic discharge destroys electronics beyond repair.
