How to Install Surround Sound on Sony Receivers

Instructions

1. Position your surround sound speakers in their appropriate location around the room. Check with the speaker manuals for specific placement information.

2. Examine the back of your Sony receiver. You should see a number of black and white outputs (square or circular in shape, depending on the model). Labeling around these outputs corresponds to specific surround sound speakers placed throughout the room (front left channel, center, back right channel etc.).

3. Run speaker cable from the outputs on the receiver the their respective speaker. You should be able to thread the ends of the cable into the back of the receiver. For specific instructions on ensuring a good fit, check with the manual for your specific receiver model.

4. Test your surround sound setup with an audio test. (Many audio samples can be found online and burned to a CD). Make sure the audio designated for the right channel is in fact playing out of the right channel speaker etc.
