How to Change the Windows Authentication Mode
The Windows Authentication mode is the method used by a computer to allow users to connect through a Windows account. The Windows Authentication mode provides secure validation and encryption of passwords. It can audit passwords for expiration and strength, and lock out users if someone else is attempting to access your computer without your knowledge. You can also change the authentication mode to a mixed mode from the registry. Mixed mode authentication enables both Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication.
