How to Color With Block Crayons

Block crayons use similar techniques to stick crayons. Block crayons are wider and larger than stick crayons. They come in both single-color and multicolor styles. Block crayons also come in different shapes, such as circles, stars and triangles. You can buy block crayons from craft stores or make your own at home using leftover crayons. Block crayons work well for rubbings and drawing. Anyone who can grip a larger object can use block crayons.

Instructions

  1. Rubbing

    • 1

Place a piece of paper on top of a plastic rubbing sheet. Hold the paper down firmly with your non-dominant hand. Do not cover the area over the rubbing sheet.

    • 2

Hold the block crayon in your dominant hand. You can hold it flat-side down or skinny-side down. Lower the crayon so it sits on the paper.

    • 3

Move the block crayon on the paper over the rubbing sheet with your hand using swift back-and-forth motions. The pressure from the motion and the rubbing sheet will cause an image of the rubbing sheet to appear. Stop coloring once the image is as dark as you would like it.
