How to Change Toner in a Xerox 6250

The Xerox Phaser 6250 color printer, also known simply as the office Xerox 6250, is a laser printer that utilizes four separate toner cartridges in cyan, magenta, yellow and black to print high-quality, professional documents. Each cartridge sits in a slot on top of the printer, underneath the slightly transparent top cover. Changing toner in a Xerox 6250 isn't difficult, as the locking system that holds the toner cartridges inside the printer has a simple design. Cartridges unlock and lock within the slots with a quarter turn of the cartridge barrel.

Instructions

    • 1

Grasp both sides of the top cover of your Xerox Phaser 6250 printer and lift it straight up and off the top of the printer. Set the cover aside.

    • 2

Flip the tabs up on the ends of the first spent toner cartridge to turn the cartridge barrel and unlock the cartridge from its slot. Lift the toner cartridge from the printer and set it aside for disposal.

    • 3

Pull the new cartridge from its packaging. Hold it in your hand lengthwise (horizontally) and shake it side to side four to five times.

    • 4

Align the new cartridge over the empty slot with the tabs at each end pointing up, and then insert the cartridge carefully into the slot.

    • 5

Push the tabs forward at the same time to lock the cartridge in place.

    • 6

Grip and pull on the tape---marked with an arrow---sticking out of the top of the cartridge on the right side. Pull straight up until you have pulled the entire piece of tape completely from the unit.

    • 7

Repeat the toner replacement process with the other toner cartridges as needed and then return the top cover to the unit.
