How to Make a RV Awning Roller Lock
An awning must be properly secured before travel to prevent damage. The awning must be fully retracted before moving the RV. Tension is placed on the awning fabric to lock the awning roller into position and keep the awning secure against the side of the RV. Locking the awning roller and securing the awning is a simple task that can be performed quickly with an awning rod.
Instructions

1
Locate the ratcheting mechanism on the end of the awning roller. It is a small switch.
-
2
Switch the ratcheting mechanism to the "In" position by pushing the switch toward the RV with the end of an awning rod to secure the awning roller. This will keep tension on the awning fabric and the awning roller will not move until it is switched to the "Out" position.

3
Secure a retracted awning by tightening the rafter knobs located on the rafter arms and placing the travel locks in the locked position.
