  1. Install DSL Filters

    • 1

Unplug all phone, fax and satellite TV cables from the wall phone jacks.

    • 2

Plug the double DSL filter into the wall phone jack where the 2701HG-B will be located.

    • 3

Plug the phone wire (for phone, fax, etc.) into the jack on the filter labeled “Phone.”

    • 4

Plug the gray phone cable into the other jack on the filter labeled “DSL.”

    • 5

Add the single DSL filters on all remaining phone jacks in the same manner, plugging the device phone cables into the filter. The single filters only have one jack.

    Ethernet Connection

    • 6

Plug the power adapter into the power port on the back of the 2710HG-B router and then plug the other end into a power outlet. This will cause the power light on the front of the router to turn green.

    • 7

Plug the free end of the gray phone cable into the port on the back of the router labeled “Phone Line.”

    • 8

Plug one end of the yellow Ethernet cable into one of the four ports on the back of the router labeled “Ethernet.”

    • 9

Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into your computer’s Ethernet port. The Ethernet light on the router should now be green.

    Wireless Connection

    • 10

Plug the power adapter into the back of the 2701HG-B and the wall power outlet.

    • 11

Plug the gray phone cable into the jack on the back of the router labeled “Phone Line.”

    • 12

Open the Network and Sharing Center on your computer by right-clicking the Internet connection icon in your taskbar.

    • 13

Click “Set up a new connection or network” and follow the instructions provided by the wizard to set up the wireless connection on your computer.

    • 14

Enter the SSID and WEP key when prompted. The SSID is “2WIRE” followed by the last three digits of the router’s serial number, which is located on the bottom side of your 2701HG-B router. You will also be prompted to enter a WEP encryption key, also found on the bottom side of the router. The WEP key is the 10 digit number that appears in brackets under the first bar code.
