How to Clean Dometic RV Awnings
Take care of a Dometic RV awning by routinely cleaning it. Routine cleaning and maintenance can prolong the life of an RV awning. Cleaning an RV awning prevents the buildup of dirt and grime and inhibits the growth of mildew. Dometic awnings are constructed of vinyl or woven acrylic fabric. Vinyl and acrylic awnings should be cleaned differently. Determine the type of material the awning is constructed of and clean accordingly. Does this Spark an idea?

Vinyl Awnings

Mix 1/4 cup of dish soap and 1/4 cup of bleach with 5 gallons of water.

Extend the awning. Apply the mixture to the top of the awning with a clean sponge.

Retract the awning and allow it to sit for five minutes. This will apply the mixture to the other side of the vinyl awning.

Extend the awning. Rinse the entire awning with a garden hose. Repeat Steps 2 through 4, if needed.

Allow the awning to dry completely before retracting for storage.
Woven Acrylic Fabric Awnings

Extend the awning.

Rinse the awning with a garden hose. Do not scrub the awning or touch the underside of the fabric.

Allow the awning to dry completely before retracting for storage.

Tips & Warnings
If the awning must be retracted while wet, extend the awning as soon as possible and allow it to dry completely to prevent mildew from forming.
Extended exposure to harsh weather and sun can damage a vinyl awning. Retract the vinyl awning when it is not in use.
