Homemade Bubble Maker
Kids love to blow bubbles out in the warm, summer sun. But before you run out and buy your kids expensive bubble maker sets, consider making your own. A variety of household items can transform into bubble makers with a little bit of creativity. Homemade bubble makers create big beautiful bubbles from bubble solution that you can also make yourself. A few homemade bubble makers, and a couple of bottles of dish soap and glycerin, can keep your kids making bubbles all summer long.
Things You'll Need
- Scissors
- Cotton string
- Straws
- Small basin
- Distilled water
- Dish soap
- Glycerin
- Fly swatter
- Strawberry baskets
- Plastic soda can connectors

Cut a drinking straw in half using a pair of scissors. Cut a piece of cotton string to a 36-inch length.

Run the string through the openings in both straws. Tie the string in a knot to secure it.

Fill a small basin with a gallon of distilled water. Add 12 ounces. of dish soap and 3 tablespoons of glycerin to the distilled water.

Hold one straw in one hand and the other straw in your other hand, forming a square with the straws and string. Dunk the square in the bubble solution and quickly remove it.

Wave the square back and forth, holding the straws firmly in your hands. The back and forth motion of the straw bubble maker will create bubbles.

Tips & Warnings
A fly swatter also makes a good bubble maker. Strawberry baskets and plastic soda can connectors also produce bubbles when you submerge them in the solution and wave them around.
Be careful when you are waving the bubble solution around. Make sure that you do not wave the solution around your face or someone else's face. Bubble solution can burn. If this happens, rinse with cool water. Seek medical attention if burning persists.
