How to Make a Simple Homemade Vaporizer
According to the "Got Vape" website, herb consumption is potentially less harmful to your health via vaporization than by traditional combustion. While combustion requires the recipient to breathe in hot fumes and herb byproducts such as tar and ash, vaporized herb releases its substances due to steady warming without flame, making for a cooler, purer inhalation. You can make your own homemade vaporizer using common household items.
Things You'll Need
- Incandescent light bulb
- Sturdy knife
- Table salt
- Soapy water
- Paper towel
- Screwdriver
- Plastic bottle cap
- 6" length of rubber tubing

1
Force the edge of your knife behind the flat metal disk on the end of your incandescent light bulb. Pry the disk away from the surrounding black ceramic by twisting the knife blade outward against the disk. Continue rotating the light bulb and prying against the disk until it pops off.
-
2
Insert the tip of your knife into the black ceramic hole and twist gently until the ceramic cracks. Use your knife to remove ceramic until the threaded metal base of the light bulb is completely empty.

3
Insert the tip of your knife into the base of the bulb until you break the glass wall under the filament. Pull out the filament and wipe you knife blade around the internal edges of the metal base to remove any leftover glass. Upend the light bulb to remove all glass particles.

Pour two tablespoons of salt into the light bulb if the internal face of the bulb is covered in white powder. Swirl the salt around the bulb to scrape away and remove this white powder. Hold your thumb over the opening in the end of the bulb and shake vigorously to remove all traces of white powder.

5
Wash the light bulb in warm, soapy water. If possible, squirt water into the bulb using a sink-side spray hose. Remove the bulb from the soapy water and shake out any remaining liquid. Place the bulb upright on a paper towel.
-
6
Force the tip of your screwdriver into the center of a plastic bottle cap, thereby creating a small hole. You may wish to perform this step on a section of old carpet to prevent from scratching your work surface.
-
7
Insert the rubber tube into the newly created hole in your plastic bottle cap. If the hole is too small, make it larger by reinserting the screwdriver and rotating the tool in wide arcs. The rubber tube should fit snugly into the cap.
-
8
Add your herb inside the light bulb and screw the plastic bottle cap onto the base. Hold your homemade vaporizer approximately one inch above a candle flame to vaporize your herb. Suck the vapor through the rubber tube.
