Instructions

  1. Removing Old Belt

    • 1

Unplug the Hoover Fold-Away power cord from the wall outlet. Push the handle forward to lock it in the upright position. Place the Hoover Fold-Away on its back, with the bottom of the power head pointing out.

    • 2

Locate the two screws on the bottom front edge corners near the roller brush. Remove the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift the Hoover back into the upright position, and unlock the handle with the foot release pedal on the rear left of the power head. Lower the handle to the floor.

    • 3

Pull the vacuum hose off the power head with your hands. Remove the two screws near the rear top of the power head securing the hood with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift the rear of the hood with your fingers, and remove it from the power head.

    • 4

Remove the two screws behind the agitator cover with the Phillips-head screwdriver. The agitator cover is the plastic piece covering the brush roller. Lift the agitator cover off the power head.

    • 5

Lift the left side of the brush roller out of the power head. The left side is the end without the belt. Roll the belt of the motor spindle near the rear of the power head, if the belt is still in one piece. Pull the brush roller completely out of the power head. If the belt is broken, remove any remaining pieces from inside the power head.

    Installing New Belt

    • 6

Hold the new belt over the power head with the lettering on the belt pointing out. Place the belt around the motor spindle. Position the brush roller toward the front of the power head, and place the belt over the end of the brush roller in the groove. Insert the opposite belt end of the agitator into the groove slot in the side of the power head. Grasp the belt side of the power head with your fingers, with your thumb on top of the brush roller end. Press the brush roller and power head together until the brush roller locks into place.

    • 7

Position the agitator cover over the brush roller, and secure with the two retaining screws. Slide the power head hood over the front of the power head so that the lower front edge of the hood fits over the bottom of the power head. Push the hood into place, lining up the rear mounting holes. Secure the hood to the rear of the power head with the retaining screws.

    • 8

Push the vacuum hose back over the port on top of the power head until the hose locks into place. Lift the Hoover handle up to the fully upright position.

    • 9

Place the Hoover on its back with the bottom of the power head pointing to the side. Secure the front lip of the hood to the bottom of the power head with the two retaining screws. Place the Hoover back into the upright position.
