How to Troubleshoot a Brother IntelliFax 625
Brother's IntelliFax 625 is an older style fax machine that uses a roll of thermal fax paper. Keeping your Brother fax machine clean is a key to ensuring clear faxes from the machine. Dust from paper can accumulate in the scanner area and cause the images to degrade. Problems with the Brother IntelliFax 625 are usually related to paper jams. Paper jams can include jams with the feeding paper, jams with the cutter and jams with the document.

Clean the scanner. Unplug the telephone line and then the power. To lift the front cover, simply place your finger at the indented arrow mark and lift it---it should lock into position. Moisten a piece of cloth with the alcohol and wipe down the white scanner bar under the cover. Lower the cover, plug everything back in and test the machine.

Fix a cutter or printer jam. Unplug the fax machine and lift the top cover. The top cover is different from the front cover and is released by lifting it at the grooves. Pull the blue release lever and raise the print head. Cut the damaged paper with scissors and discard. Plug the Brother IntelliFax 625 back in, seat and load the fax paper, push the blue lever down to lower the print head and then close the cover. Try the fax again.
