1. Access the licensing page within the official government website for the state of Tennessee (See Resources).

2. Scroll down to the Business and Professional Section of the Tennessee Licensing page. Click the "One-Stop Business Resource" link. The site will redirect to the online business center.

3. Click "Continue" under the New Users table to establish a user account to apply for your business license, and click "Continue" again after reviewing the license registration checklist.

4. Create your user account with the One-Stop Business Resource center, and log into your account. When your user account welcome screen opens, several business options are available for you to begin the application process.

5. Select the "Obtain a State Tax ID Number" option link in the user account options. This is the action you will need to take to apply for and obtain a business license. You will be redirected to the business licensing and tax ID application page.

6. Provide the necessary personal and business licensing information needed to complete the application. Once you have filled in the business licensing application fields, you will be prompted to pay the application fee.

7. Pay the Tennessee business licensing fee to process the application. Once the application is processed and accepted you will be notified by mail or email, depending on the method of response you chose.
