How to Change the Bag on a Whisperbelt Vacuum
The Whisperbelt is the power head that Kenmore uses on its PowerMate line of canister vacuums. When the vacuum is not cleaning your carpets as well as it should, the bag requires replacement. A vacuum bag that is full affects the suction power of the Whisperbelt power head. Kenmore replacement bags are available at Sears and vacuum repair facilities. It is a good idea to wipe any dirt out of the bottom of the canister when replacing the bag. Watch the end of the bag when disconnecting it from the vacuum. A bag that is full will have dirt near the end that could spill out when you remove the bag. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug the Kenmore Whisperbelt canister vacuum cleaner power cord from the wall outlet. With your thumb, push the retaining pin button on the hose where the hose connects to the canister. Pull the hose away from the canister.

Locate the hood release handle at the front of the canister. Pull out the release handle, and lift the top of the vacuum canister. Grasp the cardboard end of the bag with your fingers, and pull the cardboard off the red bag mount at the front of the canister. Lift the bag out of the canister. The red bag mount will spring forward to prevent the canister lid from accidentally closing.

Place the new bag into the canister with the cardboard end pointing toward the front of the canister. The cardboard end has a small protruding piece that should point up when the bag is in the canister. If the protruding piece is pointing down, pull out the bag and flip it over.

Slide the cardboard end over the red bag mount until the cardboard end locks over the red bag mount. Inspect the bag to ensure that it does not pinch anywhere. Close the canister lid until the hood release handle locks the lid in place. Push the hose back into the front of the canister, and plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
