  • 3 lint-free cloths
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Pin
  • Clear machine oil
  • Vacuum with brush attachment
  • Mild all-purpose cleaner

Instructions

    • 1

      Remove the needle, foot and throat plate from the treadle sewing machine. The throat plate is located beneath the needle and foot.

      Remove the lint and thread from beneath the throat plate and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth. Put the throat plate back into place.

      Locate the bobbin and remove it. Open the latch and take out the bobbin hook and race to remove dust. Take out the hook and wipe it with a soft cloth.

      Clean out the grooves in the race with a pin and apply clear oil to it. Put it back into place and close the latch. Put the bobbin into place.

      Locate and remove the thread cutter and wipe it with a soft cloth. Put it back into place.

      Vacuum any dusty areas with a small brush attachment.

      Clean the exterior of the sewing machine with a mild all purpose cleaner and a soft cloth. If the product requires rinsing, use a cloth dampened with water. Dry the sewing machine with a clean towel.

      Lubricate any gears, wheels and moving parts with a light coating of clear machine oil.
