How to Make a Wishing Well out of a Laundry Basket
Wishing wells are a very popular centerpiece for baby showers and for bridal showers. They are simple to make from a basic laundry basket that can be purchased at any home goods store. Add a few accessories, and the wishing well will look great in the middle of the table. Plus, the guest of honor will love being able to take the wishing well home after the party. - Round laundry basket
- Twist ties
- Ribbon
- Diapers
- Foam swim noodle
- Sippy cup
- Posterboard
- Cardboard
- Artificial flowers
- Wooden dowel
- Tissue paper

Secure one end of a ribbon to a slat on the laundry basket with a twist tie.

Roll the diapers. These are going to become the outside of the wishing well.

Wrap the ribbon around the diapers, weaving the ribbons in and out around the slats. Secure the end of the ribbon with another twist tie.

Cut the swim noodle in half and bend it so that it fits inside the basket. The ends should be sticking up. Secure with ribbon or twist ties.

Cut a piece of cardboard to fit the bottom of the basket and place it inside.

Cut another piece of cardboard into a rectangle that, when folded in half, fits over the noodle. Use hot glue, twist ties or ribbon to secure it to the noodle.

Cut the poster board into the roof for the wishing well, and glue it to the small cardboard on top of the noodle. Trim the edges with scallops, or even draw small tiles onto the poster board. You could even use this space to write information about the new mother, baby or bride, depending on the type of party.

Push the dowel through both ends of the noodle.

Wrap some ribbon around the dowel and attach one end to the sippy cup, without the lid, so that it looks like a bucket. Loosely wrap the ribbon around the dowel.

Place the flowers into the noodles artistically so that it looks like they are growing out of the noodle.

Place other gifts inside the well and cover them with tissue paper to hide them.

Tips & Warnings
Create a kitchen-themed wishing well for a wedding shower using dish towels or washcloths to wrap the laundry basket.
Lingerie showers can also be done by wrapping the basket in sexy lingerie, underwear or even a robe.
