How to Make 4-Inch Chess Piece Patterns
Chess piece patterns can make any quilt, blanket or pillow sophisticated. You can even make a chess pattern quilt with chess pieces sewn on top. 1
Draw a square that measures 4 by 4 inches on a piece of paper. Make an additional 5 squares with the same measurements. This will give you one square per chess piece since there are six different chess pieces: king, queen, bishop, castle, knight and pawn.
-
2
Sketch the outline of each chess piece in each square. It is a personal choice how the pieces will look. For some inspiration, look online. You can also trace the outline of actual pieces within the squares.
-
-
3
Highlight the outline of each chess piece on the pieces of paper when the sketch and design are satisfactory.
-
4
Lay the tracing paper on top of one of the chess piece sketches so the black marker outline is visible through the tracing paper. If it is not visible, hold it up against a window. Trace the outline of the chess figure on to the tracing paper with a pencil.
-
5
Turn each of the tracing pieces over so the backside is facing upward. Retrace the lines that have just been traced on the opposite side so there are tracing lines on each side of the tracing paper.
-
6
Apply glue to the backside of each chess piece. Place each of them on construction paper. Use the outlined sketched in the previous step to help determine where the line needs to be. When glued onto construction paper, the front side should be facing upward.
-
7
Cut out the chess piece patterns.
