How to Make Headbands for Baby Girls

Making elastic baby headbands is easy and inexpensive.

Headbands are a fun and simple accessory that can complete any little girl's outfit. Headbands are popular with girls of all ages, including babies. You can find baby headbands in stores, but it may be difficult to find the color or style you want. Fortunately, it's easy to make custom baby headbands. They're inexpensive, fun to make, and make great baby shower gifts.

Things You'll Need

• Tape measure
• Cotton fabric
• Fabric scissors
• Thread
• Sewing machine
• 1/2 inch wide elastic
• Fabric ribbon

Instructions

1. Cut out a piece of fabric 24 inches long and 2 inches wide. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together.

2. Sew along the long edge of the fabric, forming a tube. Turn the fabric right side out.

3. Cut a piece of elastic that is just long enough to wrap around your baby's head. Thread the elastic through the tube of fabric, gathering the fabric as needed.

4. Sew the two ends of the elastic together to form a loop. Sew together the open ends of the fabric tube as well.

5. Cut a piece of ribbon 7 inches long and tie it into a bow. Sew the bow onto the headband.
