Three beeps indicate a paper misfeed or lack of paper.

Canon's BJC-4000 bubble jet printer is no longer produced. Problems with the printer include connecting the printer to a Windows 7 machine---it won't work because Windows 7 is not supported. Other trouble, including poor printing results, can be troubleshot with some simple steps, including checking error codes delivered by beeping and flashing lights and printing a test page using the self-test/nozzle check routine.

Instructions

    • 1

Monitor the error conditions with a combination of lights and beeps. The error light blinking along with three or more beeps indicates that a controller error (general failure) has occurred. Press the Power button to turn the printer off and then unplug the printer. Wait 15 seconds, plug in the printer and turn it back on. The Online light should blink for a few seconds and then become steady. The error will have cleared.

Listen for beeps. Three beeps indicate a paper misfeed or lack of paper. Fan the paper or add paper. Four beeps indicate a paper jam. Open the lid and pull the paper out. Always pull jammed paper in the direction it was feeding.

Print a nozzle check if printing results don't look acceptable. Power the printer off and verify that paper is loaded. Press the FF button and the Power button. Hold them both down until the printer beeps twice. Release both buttons. Examine the results. If the results aren't satisfactory (there are faded lines and so on), replace the ink.
