How to Increase the Size of the Font Used By an Epson Stylus CX5000 Printer

The Epson Stylus CX5000 printer lets you print text documents or photographs in either color or black and white. In some cases you may want to modify a document prior to printing, such as making the font size larger for easier reading. The Stylus CX5000 does not include an option to increase the font size directly from the printer's control panel. Instead you need to modify the font size directly through your word processing program before printing.

  1. Microsoft Word 2007

    • 1

Open the Microsoft Word 2007 text document you need to modify. Scroll down to the text that you want to print at a bigger size.

    • 2

Click and drag across the text you want to modify so it is completely highlighted. Press "Ctrl" and "A" instead if you want to highlight all of the text in the document.

    • 3

Navigate to the "Home" tab. Click the "Size" drop-down box in the "Font" heading. Click the increased font size you want.

    • 4

Click the Microsoft Office icon and choose "Print." Follow the prompts to print the document with the larger font size.

    Google Docs

    • 1

Navigate to the Google Docs website. Type your Google user name and password in the text fields and click "Sign In."

    • 2

Click the name of the document you need to modify. Highlight the line of text that needs to be changed.

    • 3

Click the text font drop-down menu located to the left of the "Bold" button. Click the font size you want to use. Choose "File" and "Print."

    OpenOffice Writer

    • 1

Open your OpenOffice Writer document and navigate to the text that needs to be changed to a larger size.

    • 2

Highlight the portion of the text you want to make larger. Click the arrow button located to the right of the font-size box.

    • 3

Click the font size in the list of available sizes. Navigate to "File" and select "Print" to print the larger text size on your Epson Stylus CX5000 printer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Most word processing programs include a keyboard shortcut to either automatically change the font size or bring up a menu that lets you choose font features. For example, in Microsoft Word highlight the text and press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "P" at the same time. Type the font size you want to use in the text box and hit "Enter" to change the font.
  • Pressing "Ctrl," "Shift" and ">" also automatically increases the font by a single step.
