Include the phrase "Happy New Year" on your bingo cards.

New Year's Eve is a traditional night for parties, and if you're throwing a bash, you'll need food, decorations and activities to keep the party energized. Because bingo is an easy game to play, anyone at your party, including children, can participate. While a typical bingo game involves matching the number called to a number on your card, you can add a twist to the game by using words. Creating bingo cards with a New Year's Eve theme adds festivity to a traditional game. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Choose pieces of colored card stock that coincide with your New Year's Eve party decorations. For example, if your decorations are gold and blue, chose card stock in these colors to make your color scheme cohesive.

    • 2

Draw a circle with a 7-inch radius using a geometric drawing compass. This makes the bingo card resemble the New Year's ball that drops in New York's Times Square. This size gives each New Year's Eve bingo card enough room for 25 1-inch squares, with room at the top of the card for both a "BINGO" header and the phrase, "Happy New Year."

Continue drawing circles with the compass until you have enough cards for each person at your party. If you are using coins or tokens to mark the cards, one card per person is enough. If you'll be using bingo daubers, each person will need a new card for each game of bingo. Use the scissors to cut out each circle.

Outline the bingo grid by drawing a 5-inch-by-6-inch rectangle inside the middle of the card using the ruler and a marker.

Draw five horizontal lines inside the grid, with a 1-inch space between each line. Draw four vertical lines inside the gird, leaving a 1-inch space between the lines. Use the edge of the ruler to make a straight line. Write "BINGO" in the top row of the grid, with one letter in each square.

Write "Happy New Year" above the grid. In the center square, draw a New Year's Eve-themed item, such as a champagne glass or a clock striking midnight. This represents the "free" space.

Repeat this process for each card.

    • 4

Compile a list of at least 25 New Year's Eve-specific words or phrases by writing them down on a piece of scrap paper. These words can include "kiss," "December 31," "midnight," "champagne," "Times Square," "party" and "Auld Lang Syne."

    • 5

Write the New Year's Eve-related word or phrase in each square of the card. Put a different word in each square. Try to keep the words randomly spread out over each card's grid. For example, don't write "midnight" in the first "B" square for each card. Repeat this process for each card.

    • 6

Spread glitter glue in the area outside the grid on each card. This gives the New Year's Eve bingo card the appearance of the Times Square ball. Decorate with different colors of glitter glue on each card to make the cards even more festive.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use large confetti pieces for the bingo markers. New Year's Eve confetti typically has the numbered year in one piece, which is large enough to adequately cover a square.

  • Laminate the cards to reuse them for next year's party. This makes the cards more durable and protects the ink from smearing.
