How to Make a Chef Hat Craft
Help the kids make this chef's hat craft at a children's cooking party in the first few minutes while the guests are arriving. It will occupy the kids until you start cooking, keep hair out of the food, and be a fun take-home favor. This hat is also a great last-minute costume idea. Add an apron and you have an almost instant chef costume.

1
Cut the poster board into 26-inch by 3 1/2-inch strips. Select three sheets of tissue paper, and fold each sheet in half by bringing the long sides together.
-
2
Tape the short ends of a piece of tissue paper along the long edge of the poster paper strip, starting at one end and gathering it as you tape. Overlap the edge of the next piece of tissue paper and tape it in the same way. Tape on the third piece of paper in the same way.

3
Wrap the poster board strip around the child's head, with the taped side out, and secure it with paper clips. Gather the loose ends of the tissue paper together into a tall "toque," and tape it lightly together. Cut off any extra paper.
-
4
Turn the hat right side out and paper clip it together. Fluff up the tissue paper and shape it into a tall, stiff hat or a puffy, floppy hat.
