How Do I Cancel My Green Dot Credit Card?

You can cancel your Green Dot card with one phone call.

If you don't have a traditional bank account or your checking account doesn't come with a debit card, a prepaid debit card is a viable option. The Green Dot card is a prepaid card with the Visa or MasterCard logo. A Green Dot card can help you manage your finances by not allowing you to unintentionally overspend and end up with overdraft fees. If you decide to switch to more traditional credit and debit card transactions or simply don't wish to use your Green Dot card anymore, you can cancel the card at any time.

Instructions

1. Call the customer service number located on the back of your Green Dot card. If you do not have your Green Dot card handy, you may call 1-877-434-3578.

2. Enter your 16-digit card number when prompted. If you do not know your card number, you may enter your Social Security number followed by the pound key.

3. Select the option to cancel your account and wait for a customer service representative.

4. Provide the customer service representative with the information necessary to verify your identity, such as your name, Social Security number and billing address. Once the representative confirms your identity, inform him that you wish to cancel your account.

5. Ask the customer service representative to send you confirmation of your account cancellation through the mail or via email.

Tips & Warnings

• If you cancel your Green Dot card within 30 days of opening the account and before ever using your card, Green Dot will refund your annual fee.
