How to Connect a D Link Dpr 1260 RangeBooster G Multifunction Wireless Print Server to a Laptop
If you have several different computers in a home network, you probably don't want to have to connect each one to a central printer every time you need to print a document. The D-Link DPR-1260 RangeBooster G wireless printer server lets you connect several printers together and share them with every computer on the network. Connecting your wireless-enabled laptop to the print server is a quick process that only takes plugging in a few cables and running through a simple setup procedure.

Power off the printer you want to use with the D-Link wireless print server. Connect an Ethernet cable to the "LAN" port on the back of the DPR-1260.

Attach the opposite end of the Ethernet cable to any of the open numbered ports on your network's router. Disconnect the printer's USB cable from whichever computer or device it's currently connected to, if it's connected to anything.

Attach the printer's USB cable to any of the numbered USB ports on the back of the D-Link DPR-1260. Press the printer's power button.

Plug the wireless print server's power cable into a wall outlet. Access the "Start" menu on your laptop and click "Network."

Look for the entry labeled "DPR-1260: dlinkps-xxxxxx." Note down the six digits listed in place of the "xxxxxx."

Navigate your browser to the address "http://dlinkps-xxxxxx," where "xxxxxx" is the number you noted down earlier. Navigate to the "Setup" tab and click "Next."

Click the radio button for the USB port you used to connect the printer's USB cable. Click "Next" and choose "Open" to install the printer's driver software on your laptop.

Click "Finish." Open a text document or image you want to print. Choose the "Print" option and select the wireless network printer from the list of available printers.

Tips & Warnings
Position the D-Link DPR-1260 wireless print server in a central location with as few walls as possible between the server and your laptop to ensure the best signal strength.
The D-Link DPR-1260 is capable of handling up to four USB printers at a time. Each time you connect a new printer, you also need to go to the "Setup" tab in the print server's menu screen and load the driver software.
You must already have a wireless network setup in order to use the D-Link DPR-1260 wireless print server. If you don't have the network created yet, plug an Ethernet cable from your modem into your wireless router. Access the "Network" option in your laptop's "Start" menu. Click "Network and Sharing Center" and choose "Set up a connection or network." Follow the on-screen instructions.
