How to Change the Ink Cartridge on a Canon G3 thumbnail
Replace your Canon G3 fax and printer ink and recieve those important pages.

Canon Super G3-enabled printers and faxes deliver impressive speed and performance. The main feature is their ability to process fax transmissions at up to G3 fax speeds. This allows for faster receipt of important documents. These advanced features are very useful in the office or home. However, the machine still requires ink changes like every other. To keep those faxes coming in at blazing speeds, replace the ink as soon as your ink level indicator gives you a warning that your ink is running low.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the machine on if it is not already powered up. Plug in the AC power cord in the back of the unit and press the "Power" button.

    • 2

Locate the "Open" button on the front side of the printer under the menu button keypad. Press this button and lower the paper tray.

    • 3

Lift open the top of the printer and fax machine with your hands. This begins an automated process where the print heads are aligned.

    • 4

Pull the inner cover down and open. This grants access to the printer carriage and cartridges. Locate the cartridge you are going to replace by matching it to the model numbers printed on the installed cartridges.

    • 5

Press the tab on the end of the cartridge to release it, and then pull it out with your fingers.

    • 6

Open the new replacement ink cartridge box. Slide the ink out of the box and tear open the plastic. Remove the plastic film on the cartridge (if any) and insert it into the carrier with the label pointing up. Stop to verify you are inserting the proper ink cartridge into the right slot by double-checking the model numbers prior to insertion.

    • 7

Shut the covers inside the printer and then lower the top of the unit until it clicks back into place. The printer will now charge the inks and align them for printing.
