How to Put Tires on a John Deere L100

The John Deere L100 lawnmower has a cutting width of 54 inches, and is designed to mow larger yards up to 1 1/2 acres. The L100 is also used for hauling and is compatible with a wide variety of attachments. The tires are mounted on the axles using a key stock. The key secures the axle to the rim and locks it into place.

Things You'll Need

  • Axle grease
  • Clean shop rags
  • 4 dust caps
  • Clean and grease the axle of the John Deere tractor mower. Wipe the axle clean, clearing any debris with a clean shop rag. Grease the axle with a universal axle grease. Smear a small amount of axle grease on a clean shop rag and apply it to the axles. You can find axle grease can at your local auto parts store.

  • Slide the tire onto the axle, aligning the axle and the slot on the rim of the tire.

  • Insert the key into the key slot at the edge of the axle securing the tire. Repeat this process to install the other tires around the tractor mower.

  • Apply a dust cap to the tip of the axle on each wheel to protect the key stock.
