How to Erase the RAM Computer Memory

Clear your RAM regularly to keep your computer running quickly.

The more RAM a computer has, the faster it runs and operates. A lack of available RAM is the main reason a computer begins to run slow after being on for long periods of time and running multiple programs. Fortunately, the RAM can be cleared at any time, instantly restoring the computer to its original speed. One of the most commonly used methods of clearing RAM is simply restarting the computer, but there is a more convenient way.

Instructions

1. Right-click on the desktop to bring up a menu.

2. Select "New" from the list of options and click on "Shortcut." A new window will pop up asking for the location of the file for the desired shortcut.

3. Type "%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks" into the location box. Click "Next" to move on.

4. Give the shortcut a name such as "Clear RAM" and click "Finish" to confirm the settings.

5. Double-click on the shortcut any time you want to clear the RAM.
