How to Wrap a Toque
The toque--which is commonly referred to as the chef's hat--has long been a symbol of culinary excellence. Toques worn by many executive chefs today are made from varying qualities of paper and fabric. Higher quality toque varieties often include built in clips or Velcro strips to make the hat size adjustable. Wrapping the toque correctly will cause it to fit more comfortably and stay on while you are cooking. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Style your hair so that it is up out of your face and back behind your ears. Part of the function of the toque is to prevent hair from ending up in the food.
-
2
Hold the corner of the toque without pleats or fasteners to the back center of your head. Hold it at the level where glasses would rest on your ears.
-
-
3
Wrap the toque around your head without covering the tops of your ears. Hold the two corners together at the back of your head, when the chef's hat is fitting comfortable.
-
4
Lift the toque straight up off your head, as you hold the edges together in the back to keep the size from changing. Connect the clips or Velcro to secure the hat completely. Toques without fasteners can be secured by sliding on a couple of hair pins.
-
5
Reset your hair once more with a comb or brush before sliding the adjusted toque back down into position on your head. Clean or dispose of a toque when it becomes soiled or soaked with sweat.
