How to Find the Keymaster for Quest

Acquire the Crystal Focus from a powerful giant named Apex

The "World of Warcraft" quest, Finding the Keymaster, is difficult enough without having to wander around the Netherstorm Zone, searching for a specific named monster. Many guides will send you to a specific location when they describe how to complete your objectives. What they often fail to mention is that the monster you are searching for, a giant named Apex, wanders the area rather than standing in one location. Following his patrol path is the best way to find him and complete your quest.

Instructions

1. Leave the Violet Tower after Archmage Vargoth bestows the quest on you, and head north, in the direction of Manaforge Duro. You must find and slay the Giant Apex to obtain his Crystal Focus.

2. Cross the bridge linking the Manaforge Coruu and Manaforge Duro areas. Immediately after crossing the bridge, you will see a massive glass pipe with energy flowing through it rising over the horizon to the east. Head toward it, following the path on the ground.

3. Travel south from the road once you've reached the point where the path goes underneath the pipe. You will arrive at a ridge line. Follow the ridge line west, heading back toward the bridge you crossed earlier. You should run across a massive giant with glowing purple crystals growing from his shoulders. This is Apex, a level 68 elite monster. Slay him and loot the Crystal Focus he drops.

4. Walk back to Kirin'Var Village and enter the Violet Tower. Near Archmage Vargoth is a scrying device. It looks like a golden orb with draconic wings. Use the focus on the orb, and you will receive an image of a Blood Elf. Turn around and speak to Archmage Vargoth to complete the quest.
