How to Delete Windows Updates in Windows Vista

Windows Vista updates are performed to improve the security and performance of Windows Vista. Updates may be performed automatically or manually, according to your preferences and the importance of the available updates. Windows Updates can be removed if they are causing a problem with other computer processes, however it is recommended that you check for other solutions to the problem before removing the update. Windows updates that have been deleted may be reinstalled from the Windows Update Website.

Instructions

1. Check for other solutions to the problem if you are removing an update because of a new problem that has occurred after updating Windows Vista. Open the "Control Panel" from the Windows "Start" menu. From the "Control Panel," choose "System and Maintenance" and then click the "Check for New Solutions" link under the "Problem Reports and Solutions" category.

2. Follow the "Check for New Solutions" wizard and install any solutions that are available to fix the problem. Restart your computer after installing the recommended solutions to see if the problem has been fixed. If the solution did not fix the problem, or if there were no solutions available, continue to step 3 to delete the Windows Vista update.

3. Open the "Control Panel" from the "Start" menu. Select "Programs," then "Programs and Features" and click on the "View Installed Updates" link.

4. Select the Windows Vista update that you would like to delete and click the "Uninstall" button. Input the administrator password when prompted by the security dialog window to continue with the uninstallation.

5. Restart the computer once the update has been uninstalled. Windows Vista updates that have been deleted may always be reinstalled using the Microsoft Windows Update Website.
