Archive your incoming emails. Keeping thousands of emails in your active mail box will slow Outlook down. You can just set up Outlook so it automatically move older emails to an archive folder. To archive a folder, right-click on the folder, select "Properties" and then select the "Auto Archive" tab.

Disable third-party addins (also known as addons). Addins can bring benefits but they slow Outlook down. Keep only the addins that you know you are using on a regular basis. To disable addins, go to the Tools menu and then select Trust Center. Choose the Addins option.

Work offline. If you use Outlook on a slow Internet connection you can improve the response time by minimizing how much information Outlook transfers over the connection. The best way to accomplish this is by working offline instead of online. To work offline, select the File menu item and select "Work offline."
