How to Recover Unclaimed Funds From U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Florida
Once all filed claims have been paid in a bankruptcy proceeding, there may be additional funds remaining in the court's registry. In Florida, you may have a legal right to these remaining funds if you are a creditor who has not yet received payment. Debtors can also recover any excess funds remaining after all creditors have been paid. You or your attorney should petition the court for payment of any unclaimed funds within five years of the last payment to creditors to ensure that the money is not turned over to the U.S. Treasury.
